SPSS for Excel Users
This NEW one-day course is designed for business people
currently using Excel to perform data manipulation and analysis.
Prerequisites
- Experience with Excel and the Microsoft Windows
operating system.
- SPSS experience is not necessary.
Overview
This course teaches you how to use SPSS to easily read and
manipulate database data, create business analysis reports from
data extracts, perform basic statistical analyses (crosstabulations
with chi-square), and automatically repeat your work. Because of
this limited focus, this starter course does not constitute a
complete introduction to SPSS, as does the more comprehensive
Introduction to SPSS.
The course covers
- Overview of the main features of SPSS for Windows
- Accessing data: databases and Excel
- Label and missing value declaration and treatment
- Data selection and Manipulation
- Frequency and Crosstabulation analysis: help with
understanding statistical results
- Reporting with the Case Summaries, OLAP Cubes procedures
and Tables
- Time saving features: replicated reports with different
subgroups (Split Files); output to Word, edit pivot table;
aggregate
- Repeat analyses using syntax
