Getting Started with SPSS Base & Tables
This NEW two-day course is aimed at those who will be using
SPSS for data analysis and presentation of results.
Prerequisites
- Experience with running software in a Windows
environment
- No prior SPSS knowledge is required however experience
with earlier versions of SPSS or similar packages used for
data analysis would be helpful.
Overview
This course guides you through the fundamentals of using SPSS
Base and Tables. The first day is a 'fast track' version of our
Introduction to SPSS course. The second day focuses on the use
of the SPSS Tables module to summarise and communicate results
in tabular form. In this two day course you will learn the
basics of data definition, data analysis and presentation of
your results.
The course covers
SPSS Base:
- Entering data directly into SPSS data editor
- Opening spreadsheet and database files
- Defining variables and labels for your data and
assigning missing value codes
- Frequencies, Descriptives and Crosstabulation tables
- Computing new variables and recoding data values
- Producing and editing graphs: pies, bars and
scatterplots
- Helpful features: syntax, data templates, data
dictionary
SPSS Tables:
- Simple Categorical Tables
- Stacking, Nesting, and Layers, Totals and Subtotals
- Tables Summarising Scale Variables
- Significance Testing
- Multiple Response Tables
- Formatting and Customising Tables
