In-database mining

Clementine in-database mining scales the entire data mining process, taking advantage of existing hardware, software, and data warehousing investments. Unlike other data mining solutions, Clementine performs critical data preparation, modeling, and model scoring tasks within leading databases such as IBM® DB2®, Oracle Database, and Microsoft® SQL Server™.

Clementine in-database mining within open database-compliant databases improves both modeling productivity and model deployment using a highly-scalable, three-tiered architecture. The Clementine Client tier passes stream description language (SDL) to Clementine Server. Clementine Server then analyzes particular tasks to determine which it can push to the database. After the database runs the tasks it can process, it passes only the relevant aggregated tables to Clementine Server. If an external module is being used, such as Web Mining for Clementine, Clementine Server passes the relevant tasks to that particular external process.

Scale data mining using your existing database:

Rapid in-database modeling. Access the modeling capabilities provided by ODBC-compliant databases such as IBM DB2, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server directly through Clementine’s productive visual workflow interface. Directly access and prepare data within databases, rather than on the server or client tiers, to accelerate modeling. Data preprocessing—typically 80-90 percent of your data mining effort—occurs on the database tier so you save time, maximize resources, and minimize network traffic.
High-ROI in-database scoring. Clementine in-database mining includes scoring of rule-sets and decision tree models, as well as bulk loading of data mining results back into your database. These in-database scoring capabilities enable high-ROI model deployment by utilizing your existing database assets.
