Norman Nie
Norman Nie, Chairman of
the Board and co-founder of SPSS, designed SPSS's original statistical
software beginning in 1967 and has been a Director and Chairman of the
Board since SPSS's inception in 1975. He served as Chief Executive
Officer of SPSS from 1975 to 1991. In addition to his current
responsibilities as Chairman of the Board, Dr. Nie is a research
professor in Political Science at the Graduate School of Business at
Stanford University and a professor emeritus in the Political Science
Department at the University of Chicago. His research specialties
include public opinion, voting behavior and citizen participation. He
has received three national awards for his books in these areas. Dr.
Nie received his Ph.D. from Stanford University.
