Atlanta Police Department reduces crime with SPSS® for Windows®
As part of the federal Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, the Atlanta Police Department (APD) focuses on the city’s firearm crime hot spots. Using SPSS for Windows, public policy research firm Applied Research Services analyzed the more than 2 million offenders in the APD’s records, including 9 million criminal charges and 8 million arrest records. As a result, the APD can now access a “Hot List” of the 500 most-wanted criminals in Atlanta, deploying officers to the areas with the highest number of violent offenders, and working with parole officers to deter offenders from additional crime.
